Tuatha Dé Danann

It’s impossible to stand still as an artist, but if I had to acknowledge one time, the period during which I made this “tribe” is the most personal and complete expression of my identity – both as artist and woman. They are the link to everything that has followed (The Reclining Women works are the distilled details from these figures, brought forward). Every aspect of what engages me as a painter and a human being, is here.

From 1992, they were the focus of more than a decade of my work, and have taken up residence in the form of monotypes, digital prints, large oils, and images embedded in glass for the installation Tuatha Dé Danann, Lords of Light and Masters of Time.

These single figure images are at home with every aspect of the relationship of darkness and light, and have also been a bridge to an enormous amount of joy.
