Turning The Light On

PodCamp Ireland, in beautiful Kilkenny was the final catalyst to nudge me off my technological backside to begin the blog that has been taking up storage space in my head for too long. Thanks to presenter Cathy Fitzgerald from Art Links for demonstrating how well social networking tools respond to the challenges of the arts and Mike Buckley’s presentation for relevance to “Boomers”. I also enjoyed meeting Rosemary Khelifa who said “Have you heard about the Snoezelen room?”

The long and rainy trip home after PodCamp listening to RTE Radio 1 further reinforced the social networking theme on hearing legend of Irish broadcasting, Donnacha O’Dulaing, weave together the entire Irish diaspora via texts, emails and radio, reducing six degrees of separation to about two. Who would have thought that one of Ireland’s oldest broadcasters would be what Malcolm Gladwell would call the classic “connector“?
